In October 2023, I went on a 10-day mother-daughter trip to Oklahoma and Arkansas. To give you a different perspective, mom has been kind enough to answer some questions.
1. What were your specific goals for this trip?
Joni: To visit Oklahoma for the first time and hike a different landscape. This trip was a combined city and country experience.
2. What did you pack?
Joni: More than other trips. I was unsure about cold or mild temperatures this time of year.
3. What did you pack but didn’t use?
Joni: Cropped hiking pants, half my leggings, a hiking purse, a long-sleeved thermal top, shorts, and extra socks.
4. What do you wish you had packed but didn’t?
Joni: A hat
5. Did you need to buy any essentials while traveling?
Joni: Zip ties – We realized how many ways there are to use them.
6. What were your favorite foods or meals from the trip?
Joni:Charleston’s – I had shrimp scampi pasta, and it was delicious!
7. What was your favorite experience?
Joni: Climbing Cathedral Mountain and looking over the landscape for miles. I like a challenge.
11. Have you been in the area before? If so, what did you do?
Joni: I never visited Oklahoma or Arkansas, so both were wonderful. They offered more than I expected.
12. What did you miss from home?
Joni: The comfort of my own bed
13. What souvenirs did you buy?
Joni: Two advertising spoons, Route 66 earrings, a Route 66 gambling chip, and pins from Myriad Botanical Gardens.
14. What do you like more when you travel – relaxation, new experiences, good food, shopping?
Joni: New experiences
15. What inspires you to travel?
Joni: Nature – It calms my soul and rejuvenates me.
16. Where would you like to travel next?
Joni: Nova Scotia or the Pacific coastline
17. Where have you traveled in the United States?
Joni: I’ve been to every state except the following 11: Alaska, California, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oregon, South Dakota, and Washington.
18. Where have you traveled internationally?
Joni: Bahamas, Botswana, Canada, Dominican Republic, Mexico, South Africa, and Zimbabwe
When is our next trip? I’m ready! I had a wonderful time (always do) in the 2 new states with Steph.
