Alger Falls and Wagner Falls are waterfalls just outside the city of Munising in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Both are free and easy to visit.
Alger Falls
This 15-foot roadside waterfall is next to highway M-28, just across from the M-94 junction. There is a small sign and a dirt pull-off along M-28 with space for about 4 cars. Take care getting in and out of your vehicle as it is a busy highway.
Depending on the time of year, Alger Falls is partially blocked from view on the road.
If you walk to the edge of the pull-off and carefully hike up to the waterfall, you will get a better view. Water levels can vary, drastically changing its appearance.
Wagner Falls
Wagner Falls is a 20-foot waterfall off the east side of M-94, close to the M-28 junction. It is classified as a scenic site. The main parking lot next to the sign can hold 6 to 7 cars. An overflow lot with a similar number of spaces is directly across the highway.
Wagner Falls sits at the end of a short boardwalk. The trail is less than a quarter-mile roundtrip and an ideal walk for all ages. An observation platform sits visitors next to Wagner Creek.
Alger Falls and Wagner Falls are just two of more than a dozen waterfalls in the area. Make sure to check them out while you are passing through Munising.
The Upper Peninsula of Michigan has such pretty falls and hiking trails. While visiting, I enjoyed the fact that Wagner Falls is available for all to enjoy!
