High Falls is a 150-foot waterfall in DuPont State Recreational Forest. It is one of four waterfalls on the Little River. You can visit two others on a 3-mile hike.

Note: There is a High Falls at Lake Glenville near Cashiers, North Carolina.

High Falls Trail

There are two ways to get to High Falls, either from the High Falls Visitor Center or the Hooker Falls access area. From the visitor center, High Falls is along a sand-and-gravel loop trail. From Hooker Falls, you will pass Triple Falls before hitting the loop trail.

From the Hooker Falls parking lot, turn left and follow the trail toward Triple Falls. After viewing that three-tier waterfall, continue half a mile uphill on the trail. You will hit the High Falls loop trail. Turn left for the shortest route to the overlook.

Before you reach the overlook, there is a 1/3-mile spur trail to the left which will take you to the base of the falls. There is a sign on a wooden post to indicate the trail.

The base trail ends with a decent view of the falls, but some is obscured by an island in the middle of the river. If you are careful, you can make your way along the large rocks on the shoreline to get a better view.

Head back up to the main trail and turn left to view High Falls from the overlook. The overlook is a wooden post-and-rail fence to your left.

From the overlook you can also see the covered bridge on Buck Forest Road.
