Munising Falls is one of the easiest waterfalls to visit in Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. It is the western point for the lakeshore, located within Munising city limits.

There is a large parking lot and visitor center. Then it is only 800 feet on a paved path. This trail is universally accessible to the lower viewing platform.

The falls pour 50 feet over a sandstone cliff. Trees and ferns were so full of vibrant green leaves when we arrived that it almost seemed like a rainforest.

There are actually three viewing platforms, the main lower platform and two elevated overlooks.

The stairway to the left leads to a small platform where you can view the waterfall and canyon through some limbs. There are less steps up to this overlook which starts next to the lower platform.

In my opinion, the best elevated view is from the right stairway. This staircase starts earlier on the trail, prior to crossing the short wooden bridge. More steps are required, and visitors will walk along a sandstone rock formation before hitting the overlook. Here you face the waterfall directly as is flows over the edge.
