Singletary Lake State Park offers hiking, fishing, paddling, cabins, and picnicking.

There is one hiking trail in the park: The Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) Loop Trail and a universally accessible path to the pier for lake views. For those looking for more hiking options, Bay Tree Lake State Recreation Area also has trails.

Singletary Lake

Singletary Lake is one of the largest Carolina bays. Carolina bays are similar to shallow lakes. Singletary Lake is an elliptical depression fed entirely by rain.

There is a 500-foot pier to give visitors access to swim, fish, paddle, and enjoy panoramic views of the lake.

CCC Loop/TRACK Trail

This TRACK Trail is an easy 1-mile loop through the bay forest. Journey through shrubs, cedar, cypress, gum, popular, and longleaf pine trees. Interpretive signs along the trail offer information about the bay ecosystem and possible origins. The trail includes two footbridges and the path to the pier.

I found pine warblers and tiny toads on my hike.

Good to Know

Carolina bay environments can make mosquitos plentiful in warm weather. During my visit the first week of October, I had to go back to my car and respray insect repellent.

While I explored, there was a large group of knights live action role playing (LARPing).

Unless you are planning to stay in the cabins, there is not a lot to make it a destination park. I consider it worthwhile if you are already in the area.
