Justus Cove Falls is a 20-foot waterfall in Pisgah National Forest that is easily accessible from U.S. 276, part of the Forest Heritage Scenic Byway, near Brevard, North Carolina. The trail is less than a half-mile roundtrip. You can easily hike out and back in 20 minutes or spend an hour appreciating the scenery.

Take U.S. 276 North for about 8.5 miles from the intersection with U.S. 64 and NC-280. There is a small pull-off on the right side of the road (Northbound side). This is past Looking Glass Falls and Moore Cove Falls but before Headwaters Road (Forest Road 475B). The pull-off can fit 2 or 3 cars but if it is full there are several others in both directions along U.S. 276.

Cross the road and look for a small trail. There is no obvious signage, but you can see a cleared path near the gully if you look hard enough. When I visited, there was some overgrowth at the entrance which made finding it slightly harder.

Justus Cove Trail

The trail is about 2/10 of a mile to the waterfall and easy. It is mostly level with two short inclines. There were a lot of fallen trees on the path; I climbed over a dozen on my trip.

You can catch a glimpse of the waterfall from the trail, but to get to the base you need to hike a short, steep descent.

Because Justus Cove Falls is not as well known as its neighbors, it is the perfect place for some peace and quiet. The actual waterfall is lovely with a fun cascading shape.

If you plan to hike multiple Brevard waterfalls in a day, this easy walk gives you a break from some of the more strenuous trails.
